Day Two

 Objectives 

• Determine and apply the components of authentic conversations
• Identify essential client characteristics and elements of a person
• Outline and describe first-session client intake steps
• Practice asking first-session questions
• Compare and contrast goals and intentions
• Utilise coaching discovery checklists
• Explain and apply various workplace balance “wheels”

 

Day Three

• Answer the question, “What kind of coach am I?”  
• Differentiate coaching from therapy 
• Create a personal code of coaching ethics
• Outline client and coach expectations
• Compare various coaching styles
• Assess one’s coaching skills

 Day Four

• Summarise factors essential to a successful coach-client relationship
• Critique the term “honesty” in the context of workplace coaching
• Converse honestly (as critiqued above) with a peer coach
• Describe integrated versus non-integrated client behaviours
• Practice the use of powerful questions
• List and explain 10 important listening focus areas for coaches
• Summarise strategies used to help clients focus on what they want

 

Day Five

 Objectives 

• Evaluate the function of choice-making in the context of coaching
• Discriminate coaching from telling, supervising, leading and mentoring
• Develop an employee performance plan useful for workplace coaching
• Deconstruct typical workplace coaching errors and analyse their outcomes
• Develop a goals/intentions list

 Day Six

 Objectives 

• Diagnose the effects of self-limiting beliefs on coaching outcomes
• Demonstrate effective coaching techniques across a variety of client situations
• Describe the differences between coaching individuals and coaching systems
• Evaluate the impact of raw debate, polite conversation, skillful discussion and dialogue when coaching pairs, teams or groups
• Demonstrate an effective coaching technique for identifying “undiscussable” topics when working with groups
• Explain common workplace communication mistakes that may be remedied by coaching

 Day Seven 

• Outline and explain steps to identify and reduce client resistance
• Explain “defence mechanism” and provide coaching-related examples
• Compose a list of client actions related to introjection, retroflection, confluence and projection
• Discuss steps to overcome client resistance
• Differentiate individual from organisational change and associated coaching implications
• Provide an example of large-scale change management activities
• Outline coaching considerations when working with a client in the role of change agent

 Day Eight 

• Present and explain coaching principles in the context of “Universal Truths”
• Differentiate career coaching from career counselling and explain each

 

Day Nine 

• Apply the six components of critical thinking to coaching situations
• Choose and utilise appropriate group problem solving tools
• Describe the similarities and differences between internal and external coaching roles
• Outline the essential steps for developing a successful coaching practice
• Recognise 100 areas of coaching speciality
• Design a coaching practice
• Discuss and plan tactics for finding and retaining clients as an internal or external coach

Day Ten

• Present summary of a 3-month coaching engagement
• Complete end-of-course written and oral examinations
